Walmart launches grocery pick up service

The latest news in convenience grocery shopping is Walmart’s announcement that they will bring grocery pickup service to several Atlanta-based stores next month.


Pick-up service is not available until on or after October 13, but starting today you can log on to from a computer or mobile phone to shop for more than 30,000 items online and schedule a pick up for the launch date or after.

The service will only be available at four Walmart Supercenters in the Atlanta area:

• Walmart Supercenter, 970 Mansell Road, Roswell
• Walmart Supercenter, 2795 Chastain Meadows Pkwy, Marietta
• Walmart Supercenter, 5200 Winward Pkwy, Alpharetta
• Walmart Supercenter, 5455 Atlanta Hwy, Alpharetta

At each location, there will be designated parking spaces for pickup customers. Walmart personal shoppers, shop for the items and load them into your car.

When you visit, just enter your zip code, make your selections and at checkout choose one of the participating stores and a pick up time.

The service requires a $30 minimum purchase and it is always free. All items sold online carry the same prices as the items in-store so there is no mark-up to use the service. If you need to make a return or exchange on your items, you can do it during pickup or by returning later to a Walmart store.

Order by 2 a.m. and your items will be available for pickup from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Orders placed by 10 a.m. will be available for pick-up from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. You will get a phone call letting you know when your order is ready and where to pick up your items. The pick-up location will have a marked parking space and you will have a call number to reach an associate who will bring your order out to the car.
