Uber, the superstar of on-demand transportation, is expanding into food delivery beginning Thursday, Sept. 10.
Each day, participating Atlanta restaurants will offer curated menus through UberEATS allowing users to order on-demand deliveries that arrive in under 10 minutes.
Use the Uber App to order your meal, just as you would to summon a car. Once you’ve decided what to eat, tap a button and your meal will be delivered in under 10 minutes. UberEATS offers the same cashless payment system through the app as with an Uber ride.
UberEATS is available Monday-Friday, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and features local restaurants.
Some of the restaurants that are partnering with UberEATS include:
Thursday, Sept. 10
• Yeah! Burger
Friday, Sept. 11
• Highland Bakery
• Smoke Ring
• Sun In My Belly
• Busy Bee Cafe
• Neighborhood Eats
• Bell Street Burritos
Delivery is normally $3, but during the first week, it will be free. In addition, from Sept. 10 through Sept. 18, King of Pops will be delivering some of their signature treats for free with every UberEATS order.
As a sidenote, on Tuesday, Amazon launched a restaurant delivery service in Seattle but it looks like Uber beat them to the Atlanta metro area to compete with more established food delivery services like Grub Hub.
