4 ways to celebrate Shark Week

Discovery Channel’s Shark Week is underway. This is the 28th year of the annual summer event, and it started earlier than ever.

It will feature 14 new episodes of shark tales. The event has become Discovery Channel’s longest running series, despite calls for a boycott over their exploitation of sharks in mocumentaries or docudramas (choose your term — it’s all the same thing.)

You can tune in for programming (real and entertainment based) on all things shark, and if that’s not enough, here are a few other ways to celebrate:

Georgia Aquarium: Go see real sharks up close at the aquarium with these timely deals:

  • Early Bird Online Discount: Save up to $7 per person on Aquarium entry when you purchase your tickets online for entry before 10 a.m.  Regular fees are $32 adults, $26 for children 3 -12 , and $28 for seniors 65 and over.
  • Imagination Nights: Now through Aug. 1 purchase advance tickets for entry from 5 – 8 p.m. Mon – Sat. and you pay $25 plus tax.

Wool and the Gang: Get ready for winter with chunky shark mittens which appeared on the runway during London Fashion Week. The collaboration between Wool and the Gang and British designer Christopher Raeburn are made by hand with 100 percent Crazy Sexy Wool. You can get them as a DIY knit kit, $68, or ready-made for $127. Available at woolandthegang.com.
