5 ways to save on movies this summer

Summer is a great time to relax and check out a movie — old or new. Depending on which features you wish to see and your tolerance for summer heat, you can catch movies for less all summer long. Here’s how:

  • Cinemark Discount Days: Cinemark theaters in Fayetteville host discount movies days. The theater at 157 Banks Station  in Fayetteville offers $1.15 admission per person during “Reel Family Time” on Mondays, $1 movies all day on Tuesdays and $1.15 for the first matinee showtime of the day. For details visit www.cinemark.com.
  • Costco: Buy a 10 -pack of movie tickets for AMC, Cinemark, or Regal Cinema from Costco or Costco.com for $84.99.
  • Free Outdoor Movies: Check out my listing of free outdoor movies this summer. Most events run throughout the summer and all are free. You’ll need a blanket or lawn chairs. Check the links for updates on shows and weather cancellations.
  • Regal Theatres: Regal’s “Summer Movie Express” promotion gives you $1 admission to select movies at metro Atlanta Regal movie theaters. Tickets are available for purchase at the box office and all movies start at 10 a.m. (they are rated G or PG). The movies play on Tuesday and Wednesday. For details, visit www.regmovies.com/Movies/Summer-Movie-Express.
  • Starlight Drive-In: Head to Starlight Drive-In and save 50 percent on movie screenings. Adults pay $9 and kids (ages 5-9) are $1 for two movies. Starlight Drive-In, 2000 Moreland Ave SE, Atlanta. See website for screening details and FAQs.
