2014 Veterans Day Deals

Tuesday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. Deals include everything from free meals at a range of restaurants to wedding dresses for military brides. Most promotions require some proof of military service so be prepared. And if you have any deals to add, leave a comment or send an email to nrhone@ajc.com.


Applebee’s: Veterans and active-duty military get a free meal from a limited menu from open to closing on Nov. 11 at participating Applebee’s restaurants. Check your location first.

Buffalo’s Cafe: This Athens establishment is offering any veteran a free meal up to $10. They also offer 10 percent off all year to veterans and emergency service personnel.

BLT Steak: Veterans or active military will receive a 50 percent discount off the total check for parties of two or less or a 25 percent discount off the total check for parties of three or more. Golden Corral: Active-duty and retired U.S. military personnel get a free dinner buffet at all restaurants nationwide from 5 – 9 p.m. on Monday Nov. 17. Any person who is serving or has served in a United States Military branch, including the National Guard and Reserves qualifies. No identification required.

Hurricane Grill & Wings: Veterans and military personnel get a complimentary meal from a limited menu and a non-alcoholic beverage. Hurricane Grill & Wings, Medlock Crossing Shopping Center Near Regal Cinemas, 9700 Medlock Bridge Road, Suite 120, Johns Creek.

Kangaroo Express: Any guest with a military I.D. that visits one of Kangaroo Express’ 1,200 grill-ready stores between 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, can get a grill item for 25-cents (one per guest, while supplies last). FYI, Kangaroo Express offers portable, transferable career opportunities to current and former service members and their spouses. Menchie’s: Veterans or military personnel get a free six ounce frozen yogurt on Veterans Day.

McCormick & Schmick: Veterans get a free meal on Sunday, Nov. 9. Identification required. Reservations suggested. Does not apply to To-Go orders.

Olive Garden: On Tuesday, Nov. 11, active-duty military and military veterans get a free entree with proof of military service. The special menu includes Garlic Rosemary Chicken (photo attached), Penne Primavera and Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. The entrée is served with unlimited homemade soup or garden fresh salad and warm, garlic breadsticks.

On The Border: Veterans and members of the military are invited to enjoy a free Create your own Combo on Nov. 11.

Outback Steakhouse: On Nov. 11 all active and retired military personnel get a free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage by showing a valid military ID at participating restaurants. Outback is also offering all Military Mates – including active or retired military personnel and their families – 15 percent off their entire check from Nov. 12 through Dec. 31, 2014 with a valid military ID at participating restaurants.

Starbucks: On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, participating Starbucks locations in the U.S. will offer a free tall (12 fl. oz.) brewed coffee to veterans, active duty service members and military spouses. Check to be sure your nearest location is participating.

Twin Peaks: (UPDATED) On Veterans Day service men and women will get a free entree. See website for locations.

Texas Roadhouse: Veterans and active members of U.S. military across the country can get a free lunch on Monday, Nov. 11. All locations are participating. Proof of service includes military or VA card, or discharge papers.


Brides Across America: Military Brides To Be can head to Wedding Angels Bridal Boutique on Nov. 10 and 11, for a free wedding gown. The event will take place on November 10 from 2 – 6 p.m. and November 11 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All military brides who are engaged or had a civil ceremony and are planning a wedding within the next 18 months are invited to attend along with friends and family. Arrive early to secure a place in line as the event is first-come-first-served. Over 100 gowns in varied sizes and colors will be available free of charge to military brides who meet the qualifications. Brides or their fiancé’ must be serving in the military; either currently deployed or have a future deployment. Great Clips: Veterans get a free haircut from Veteran’s Day, November 11, through Dec. 31 2014. Visit any U.S. Great Clips salon on Nov. 11 and, with the purchase of a service, receive a free haircut card to give to a veteran. Limit one card per customer. The promotion applies to veterans only. If a Veteran visits Great Clips in the U.S. on Nov. 11, he or she will receive either a free haircut that day or a free haircut card to redeem by Dec. 31. After Nov. 11, veterans must have a free haircut card to get the free haircut.

High Museum of Art: The High offers free admission for all active military and veteran personnel and up to 5 family members every Sunday and Tuesday. Take advantage of the deal this Veterans Day and active military and veterans will also receive free parking in the Woodruff Arts Center deck (subject to availability) with proof of service on Sunday (Nov. 9) and Tues (Nov. 11).

IHG Army Hotels: The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Army Hotels Retiree Rate offers up to 20 percent discount for U.S. Army retirees. The rate can be booked up to 50 weeks in advance, and for as many rooms as requested, pending availability. Guests staying with IHG Army Hotels receive complimentary breakfast, Internet, weekly social activities and shuttle transportation. Military ID is required at check-in. Publix: Members of the military get a 10 percent discount on Veterans Day with a proper military ID.

Red Roof Inn: Veterans, active duty military and their families get 15 percent off at over 360 properties nationwide all month long. (The usual discount is 10 percent). Use VP+/Promo Code 618669 when making your reservation. The offer is valid for November 1 – November 30, 2014. A valid military ID is required at check-in.

World of Coca-Cola: Active duty, reserves and retirees get free admission to the attraction year-round. In honor of Veterans Day, on Saturday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 16, members of the Armed Forces may also purchase up to four half-price general admission tickets for their friends and family. Present a valid Armed Forces ID cards at the World of Coca-Cola ticket windows.

Zoo Atlanta: Veterans and active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces can show a military I.D. for free admission. Their riends and family get the military rate of $4 off general admission for up to six guests. Deal is valid Nov. 11 only.
